The Most Important Things You Need to Do to Get (and Keep) Your Mindset Right

Earlier this month, we talked about the importance of checking in with your mindset and recognising where you are. We discussed how to catch yourself when you’re heading into negative directions. This post, we’ll cover the most important thing you can do to keep your mindset straight.

One of the best ways to do this is by paying attention and being deliberate about the people you spend your time with. Ask yourself, are you having conversations that are uninspiring? Are they keeping you stuck and not moving you forward at all?


Are you having conversations that energise you and make you want to go out and do what you need to do and accomplish your goals? These are the types of conversations with people you want to focus on. But, it’s not always easy to have these good conversations. We need to know and connect with the right people and we also need trust.

Start by asking yourself, ‘Am I getting the results I want right now?’ If not – what are you going to do to change it around? If you are getting the results you want, ask yourself, ‘What am I going to do to get myself to the next level.

2 simple points to start with:

  1. Who are you around? Who are you having conversations with everyday? Are they positive, and inspiring? Do they make you want to do things? Or are they draining you? Do you find yourself negative and complaining often? This makes a big difference
  2. Next look at the sort of partners you have. Do you have partners who can take you to the next level and can help you generate new business quickly? Or are you trying to do it all by yourself (which, by the way, is a very hard thing to do and you don’t have to do it alone.)

The key here is that you need to surround yourself with good people, good conversations and good referral partners in order to keep your mindset right.
