To be successful, remember the Law of Reciprocity: Whatever form of value you give, be it service or monetary, you will likely receive the same or greater value in return. Remember Zig Ziglar’s wise words: “You will get everything in life that you want if you just help enough other people get what they want.” Giving value, though, must come from an open heart.

When preparing to build your network, always have the mindset, why would people want to network with me? Networking isn’t just about what you are going to get, it’s also about what you are going to give to others. Take a good hard look at what you can offer as an effective networker. You will succeed only if you consistently spend time and energy building and nurturing your professional network. Networking is a powerful marketing tool when it is a win-win for all involved.

Be dedicated, work hard. Be willing to give any effort your 100% attention. The best way to create a win-win situation is to give value to others while giving your best, as you at the same time, hone your skills – thus moulding you into a better, more effective gem in the lives of others.

Help others succeed, too

Helping others experience success in their work efforts is always a win-win situation. It is even more gratifying than experiencing the satisfaction of having done the work yourself. To see others achieve their own goals because of your help might perhaps be the most gratifying experience of all. Furthermore, the greatest reward of all is that, while helping, you achieve remarkable improvement in your own working relationships with others, as well. They win, thus you win – and vice versa. What a wonderful feeling it must be to be a blessing to others, wouldn’t it? Remember, it’s lonely being alone on top – it’s always better to have someone else beside you.
